Under the guidance of an expert from Thammasart University, the project has selected 6 species of bamboo for the initial pilot. Bamboo plantations not only provide building materials but also protect the land from soil erosion and provide nutritious bamboo shoots for consumption. Depending on which species are well suited to the area, the project will be expanded in 2011 – and will also include other camps along the border.
