Jack Dunford was invited to participate in the 6th East Asia NGO Forum in Taipei on 24/25th June organised by TOAID, and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) which became TBBC’s 16th governmental Donor in 2009. MOFA funding is used for nursery school lunches in the camps in Tak province in partnership with TOPS, a Taiwanese NGO. This programme ensures that these kids get at least one nutritious meal a day during this vulnerable period of their growth.
Jack Dunford met with Borshow Chen, Executive Secretary NGO Affairs Committee (left) and Claire Chia-Chi Chin (right) at the MOFA office in Taipei together with representatives from TOPS.
Jack reports that the Forum was an opportunity to learn about developments in the NGO world of East Asia, which will likely be very important as global economic power shifts from “west” to “east”. During the visit Jack called in at the TOPS office in Taipei and at the MOFA together with TOPs representatives to encourage support of the nursery school lunch programme.
